1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Guessr, including the website, game features, accounts, guest access, and related services. By accessing, browsing, registering for, or using Guessr, you agree to be bound by these terms.

If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the service.

2. Eligibility and account access

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the service with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure, for all activity that occurs under your account, and for ensuring that the information you provide is accurate and current.

3. Use of the service

Guessr is a daily social guessing game that allows users and eligible guests to participate in prompts, submit answers, view rankings, compare results, and use related features that may change over time.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, including prompts, scoring logic, game rules, social features, availability, and access methods.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the service. This includes, without limitation, attempting to cheat, manipulate rankings, create fake accounts, impersonate another person, harvest data, scrape or copy the service at scale, interfere with normal operation, bypass rate limits or security controls, reverse engineer restricted portions of the service, submit unlawful or abusive content, or use the service in violation of applicable law.

We may investigate misuse and take any action we reasonably consider necessary to protect the service, our users, and third parties.

5. User content and gameplay submissions

You retain ownership of the content you submit to Guessr, including answers, guesses, usernames, and other user-provided material. However, you grant Guessr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, process, analyze, display, publish, and otherwise use that content as needed to operate, maintain, improve, secure, and promote the service.

You understand that gameplay submissions may affect public or in-product results, rankings, statistics, answer boards, moderation workflows, and other aggregated features. We may moderate, remove, exclude, or reclassify submissions that violate these terms or the rules of the game.

6. Intellectual property

Except for your user content, Guessr and its licensors own the service, including its software, design, visual elements, branding, text, prompts, graphics, compiled gameplay data, and other content made available through the service.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, or exploit protected portions of the service except as expressly permitted by law or by us in writing.

7. Third-party services and links

The service may integrate with or rely on third-party services, such as hosting providers, email delivery providers, authentication providers, geolocation or infrastructure providers, and external websites or links. Your use of those third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to the service at any time, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, created risk for the service or other users, engaged in abuse or unlawful conduct, or if continued access is no longer commercially or operationally practical.

You may stop using the service at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute-related obligations.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided on an as-is and as-available basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guessr disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We do not guarantee that the service will always be secure, available, accurate, or free from bugs, loss, interruptions, or unauthorized access.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Guessr and its operators, affiliates, service providers, licensors, and representatives will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, goodwill, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability of Guessr for any claim arising out of or relating to the service or these terms will not exceed the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100) or the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Guessr and its operators, affiliates, service providers, and representatives from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of or related to your misuse of the service, your content, your violation of these terms, or your violation of applicable law or the rights of another person.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the service after updated terms become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
